LM2596S Adjustable Step-Down Regulator Module [DC-DC] [3A] is an adjustable DC-DC step-down switching adapter with 3A high current and excellent line and load regulation, which is based on LM2596S 3.0 A, Step-Down Switching Regulator chip. The LM2596 chip is a buck converter and easy solution to build step down voltage regulator. This chip has high efficiency (about 92%). This converter chip is a switching mode power supply with the 150KHz high switching frequency, results in reducing the size of filter components. Due to the high switching frequency, this module is optimized to work with a small inductor.


This regulator is designed to minimize the number of external components to simplify the power supply design. This adapter can be used as a post regulator for DC adaptors and power supplies, battery charger or even an LED current source. This regulator is equipped with a precision multiturn potentiometers to accurately adjust both the output voltage and current. The input supplied voltage should be 1.5V higher than the output desired voltage. This regulator supports a wide range of input voltage from 1.5V up to 35V, with 3A  high current, but for long-time operating continuous current under 2.5A is recommended, and for operating power more than 10 watts, a heatsink is needed.
