How It Works

The AS5600 detects the magnetic field produced by a magnet positioned above the sensor. As the magnet rotates, the magnetic field direction changes. The sensor converts this change into a digital angle value.

Because there is no physical contact between the sensor and rotating magnet, there is very little mechanical wear, making it suitable for applications requiring repeated or continuous rotation.

12-Bit High Resolution

The 12-bit resolution provides:

2¹² = 4096 positions per revolution

This corresponds to approximately:

360° ÷ 4096 ≈ 0.088° per digital step

This makes the module useful for precise rotary-position measurements.

I²C Interface

The module can communicate with microcontrollers and development boards through I²C, making it easy to integrate with:

Other I²C-compatible controllers

The digital output eliminates the need for an external ADC when reading the sensor's angular position.
